Train to Gain Helps Businesses of all Sizes Fight Recession

Both large and small businesses have reaped the benefits of Government funded training support, which is backed up by figures released by the Learning and Skills Council.

In a survey of employers who use the training initiative, 80 per cent said they were likely to recommend Train to Gain to other employers and use it again themselves. A significant number of employers (41 per cent) also said Train to Gain had helped them cope with the recession.

British Businesses are 'Europe's Most Bullish'

British companies are the most bullish in Europe about their prospects for future growth, with 83% of chief executives claiming that the outlook for their business in 2010 is either good or very good, according to new research from KPMG International.

Survey Finds Deep Anger Over Tax System Among Small Firms

A poll carried out by the Forum of Private Business found that more than two thirds of SME owners believe the tax burden placed on them is unfair – and over half think the tax system favours big companies.

An overwhelming 43% of respondents said ‘fairness' should be the main priority for the tax system. The next popular priority was ‘simplicity', which was selected by one in five smaller businesses, echoing widespread anger with a system which is among the most complex in the world....

Barclays Announces £88 million in New Funding for Business Loan Scheme

Barclays has announced a further £88 million is available to lend to SMEs through the Enterprise Finance Guarantee (EFG), which was introduced during the downturn to help more businesses get finance. The scheme enables Barclays to lend to viable businesses that, because they cannot offer sufficient security to meet normal commercial lending, would not otherwise be able to get the finance for their business to survive and grow.
