Selling over the telephone can both be easy and hard – it just depends on how well prepared you are!

Here are a few useful tips on improving your telephone sales technique.

• Smile! Yes, I know you can't be seen, unless you have one of the new visual phones, but smiling makes you sound more cheerful. Remember! SMILE AS YOU DIAL!!

• Ask questions about your client's business. Use words like 'You' and 'Your'. Everybody likes to talk about what they do....

Apathy amongst customers when it comes to buying a product can be quite common place.

But there are some strategies you can employ, especially if you are selling over the Internet or via direct mail, to help overcome the problem and these are the use of very clear ‘call to action’ statements.
