Are You Taking a Holiday This Summer?

If you are in the Northern hemisphere then the summer break is almost upon us.

In my blog today there is an interesting survey which takes a look at holiday patterns for small business owners (http://www.smallbusinesssuccess.biz/forum/blog.php?b=52). Just 40% are saying that they are taking less time off since they started their business.

What about you? Have you found it increasingly difficult to take time away from the business?

Me? Well, I'm in Africa and coming back to sunny (?) UK in a week's time for a quick two week break and that's me done!

I shall almost certainly be taking a summer break.

With kids breaking up for school summer holidays Next Tuesday (22nd), i do not really get much choice in the matter.

I shall probably be having 3 out of the 6 weeks of / not working.

children and work do not quite mix, specially when they are as young as mine :(

As there is only the two of us we tend to go when we know its going to be dead work wise. For the last two years we have had a week at Christmas which means is really expensive as we have to go far away and spend the extra for the time of year.

Apart from that we take a few days off when we go to V festival in August but apart from weekends away thats it.

This year I treated myself to a new house lol so the Christmas break is cancelled in favour of a new garden. Well that was the plan but having just been quoted £7K for the garden it looks like half a garden - or maybe just a new fence :eek:

This time of year is quite quiet for us so if we had somebody to answer the phone and deal with orders I think we would be happy to have a couple of weeks somewhere but we will just have to wait and see what happens with regards to employing somebody. I come home most afternoons anyway as it doesnt make sense just sitting in the office twiddling my thumbs when I can sit at home with the dog and twiddle them lol
