I have been strangely silent over the last few days because someone hwo a little bug got into this forum - nohting nasty just one of those programmes which puts a banner on your site.
In order to get rid of it the forum software had to be reinstalled but thanks to my IT guy from India (Ali) as is now well.
However, one important lesson - never rely on one anti-virus programe. I run with Norton and scan every few days and all has been well. Once I spotted the bug I ran Norton and it gave the all clear. So did some research and the consensus was that you should have a minimum of 3 (yes three!) anti-virus programes. Wow I thought!
So I downloaded Lavasoft (free but you can upgrade for real time monitoring) and this programme found 502 cookies and trackers that Norton never picked up!!
The next one I downloaded was Windows Defender (available free from the Microsoft site). This also found a few that Lavasoft hadn't picked up.
Both of these programes have free updates, so you just go in and they update the virus definitions ready for you to scan again.
I receommend that you have a look at these free downloads. They only a few minutes to install but will give you peace of mind - and that's one thing I would like to give Norton - a piece of my mind! I pay for an annual subscription and a freebie software picks up over 500 nasties that Norton has missed - why do I bother paying I wonder??
