Not quite sure where Jack came from but the author of The Irresistible Offer and The Great Formula is Mark Joyner.
The Irresistible Offer
The Irresistible Offer focuses on creating a compelling short marketing message which communicates the essentials. You can think of it as an update to the USP or unique selling proposition.
In my experience, many small business owners struggle with this idea - why should a customer choose to buy from them and not from a competitor?
The answers I hear are very vague - we give good service, our products are top quality etc... but they are easy to say - and nearly everyone says them.
the Irresistible Offer forces you to focus your message.
As Manglam says, Mark Joyner is a top Internet marketer and that means he is after your money, even with a free offer like this.
Don't let that put you off - he makes a one time offer of an upsell to one of the famous Simpleology courses to help you to create your irresistible offer.
I have reviewed the simpleology course - The Irresistible Offer (http://businesscoaching.typepad.com/the_business_coaching_blo/2009/02/the-irresistible-offer-simpleology-elective.html) and it is very good.
It helps to counter the problem that many books are bought - and free ebooks are downloaded - but nothing else happens.
The course is simple but that is the art of Simpleology to take complex ideas and make them easy to do.
If it leads you to create a specific marketing message you use successfully in your marketing, it is well worth the money - and if you don't, there is a guarantee.
The Great Formula
The idea behind the Great Formula is really important but I thought that it was a disappointing book.
The concept is introduced in The Irresistible Offer - find a thirsty crowd, make them an irresistible offer and offer them a second glass - but The Great Formula book is heavily padded.
You can read my somewhat critical review of The Great Formula (http://businesscoaching.typepad.com/the_business_coaching_blo/2008/02/mark-joyner-the.html)
I haven't tried the Simpleology elective on The Great Formula yet, it may be better than the book.
As I say, the idea about selling to customers repeatedly and designing your business so that you have extra products to offer is very important but the book didn't add enough to the general idea.
So my advice is to start with the Irresistible Offer - which is excellent and will help you to focus on one of the most essential parts of your business.
