Rod,

As per your request in the other post here I my thoughts:

1. The site is clean with no clutter

2. Navigation is clear

3. The 'me' factor comes out well i.e. personalised service is your strength

4. You are transparent on your pricing and your T & C which gives the client confidence

Areas to review:

1. I would remove the Paypal button; it doesn't give the right impression and serves no purpose at this stage of the buying/quote process

2. On your pricing page I would not state that you are willing to negotiate. You are immeidately sending the wrong signal and giving permission for clients to negotiate at the very beginning. You need to confident enough in the service you provide to stick to your pricing except for regular customers etc

3. Include a testimonials page. You are focusing on service as a key selling point so get comments from customers and put them up - provides the visitors with further about your ability to deliver

4. Not sure what your keyword or phrase focus is but I googled 'couriers in essex' but you didn't come up on the first page. Do the search for this phrase or your choosen phrase and see what description title comes up for the higher ranking sites - you'll see the emphasis on essex and related areas. Ok, ranking is not just down to description but it helps.

Hope that's useful.

Hi Rob,

thanks for the input on that, I'll certainly take on board your comments and indeed act upon them. As stated in my "about me" introduction, I'm new to being self employed and all the stuff that goes with it so your pointers are gratefully received. I've got a few minutes this morning, so it's off to work on the site now...

Cheers

Rob,

Following on - I've made the changes you suggested, I had already thought about a testimonials page, so far I've got about 5 or 6 comments I can use, I really wanted a few more but I suppose putting too many on a page will look like I'm "press ganging" people into giving me quotes. I was going to use the format of "quote" - "contributer initials" - "town" i.e.

Good service, would use again. - AZ of London

On this subject, I realise that in the interests of privacy and general politeness, I shouldn't put anyone's details on the page, but if someone asks for the details of someone who I've quoted, do I have to tell them, should I ask the person who gave the quote for permission from the outset, or how else should I handle it?

I would go the whole hog and put up the full name, company name and location. Just 'AZ of London' has no credibility; do you believe the mailings you get through the door which quote this?

With the testimonials you have already go back to the cutomers and ask for permission to use their comment on your site. For further credibility you could ask for a photo. Offer to quote their web address so at least they will get a link back to their site.

Totally satisfied customers are going to have no problem with providing you with a testimonial so don't be concerned about asking.

Used correctly testimonials can add a lot to the buying process.

Check out the testimonials I have at:

Whilst I have not requested photos can you see that they are 'believable' just because of the name and location. And you can see I have no shame and have put up more than 5!!
