So the Board of Directors of UK PLC have today decreed that the way to beat this forthcoming recession is to simply ... spend more money!

I guess it doesn't matter exactly where the money is spent, just as long as it is. Now, when running a country I guess this may be a legitimate strategy but why can't they be just a tiny bit radical and think like a business?

We all know that governments are bloated bureacuracies so how about looking at simple efficiencies - getting rid of useless departments and jobs with useless titles and questionable outputs.

That's what a business would do, so why not governments?

What are your thoughts?

Hi Rob
Borrowing more and spending more are two of the same solution. That is try to fix a hole in a bucket by pouring in more water.
Yes we do need to spend more money, but on income generating activities not on the feel good income consuming activities.
We need to increse entrepreneurial by creating more businesses, better ideas and more productive options. We need to increase intrapreneurship by making businesses more creative, more productive and more cost effective. and finally. We need to become better venture preneurs and stop crying to bankers for loans and go in search on joint ventures where we can help each other grow. A venture capitalist will help your business grow because he has a stake in it. A banker is only interested in the interest he receives.
The key is co-operate don't compete. Create don't wait. And become productive not destuctive.

Cheers
