Here's an interesting development I have come across. Microsoft have brought together a number of specialists who, over the next 12 months, will be sharing their ideas on how to weather the credit crunch and associated problems that will bring.
Here's the Microsoft release ...
The prospect of a UK downturn continues to drive the business news agenda and is a growing concern for businesses of all sizes, not least of all SMEs. While large businesses have the strength in depth at a senior management level, and access to highly-paid and skilled consultancies to help them manage through the hard times, the fact is that most SMEs find it harder to gain access to the right advice and guidance to help them through.
As a reaction to this, Microsoft has formed a rolling “90 Day SME Advisory Panel” with LloydsTSB, Federation of Small Business (FSB) and Accounting Network for Small Businesses (AIMS).
The purpose of the panel will be to meet once per quarter for the next twelve months to review macro-economic developments, and provide advice and guidance to SMEs on how to protect their business as much as possible in a downturn.
This first instalment of the 90 Day SME Advisory Panel sees our team of experts offer general tips for UK SMEs to deal with the potential effects of a downturn.
The Panel:
Grant Currie, Managing Director, Inferno Communications (Host)
Jenny Little, Mail on Sunday
Robert Epstein, Head of Small Business Sales & Marketing, Microsoft UK
Stephen Pegge, Communications Director, LloydsTSB Commercial
Henry Ejdelbaum, Managing Director, Accounting Network for Small Business (AIMS)
Stephen Alambritis, Head of Public Affairs, Federation of Small Business (FSB)
Interesting idea and the first step the panel has taken is to record six podcasts giving their thoughts on issues such as whether we are facing a slowdown or recession, how to beat any recession and financing tips.
The podcasts are free to download and I'll be having a listen over the next few days and share some thoughts.
Download them from here (http://www.microsoft.com/uk/smallbusiness/sme/default.mspx) and tell me what you think.
