Has anyone ever had to deal with a competitor who deliberately dobs you into a gov't organisation or destroys your property in an attempt to sabotage your operation due to taking some of their market share????
Why are they so interested in the competitor instead of worrying about their own backyard?
What do you do to stop them - especially when you have several suspects!!!

Nat,
Not a good position to be in but I guess by the way you described as 'suspects' hard evidence has been difficult to come by.
I think you hit the nail on the head when you said they should concentrate on their own business. Distraction from your core focus is one of the main reasons for failure and let's hope these guys suffer that fate.
But let's take one positive spin - at least you have proven that your marketing and strategy is right if have been able to hack off so many competitors!

Before anyone can even begin to look at what might or might not be happening, and whether or not there are some counter-actions you can take, you need to explain it all to us.
What happened?
How was it effective.... why did it affect your business?
What did you do to counter-act what they did? ... did it work?
Can you 'set a trap' to identify who is responsible?
Who are your competitors, and why are YOU such a threat? What is so unique about your service that they can only compete by using sabotage?
If you are offering something so unique... do you actually need to spend time and effort on reducing the damage of their actions, or would it be more profitable to not be distracted by them and to simply forge ahead with marketing your uniqueness?

A great example this week of trying to slam your competition - Richard Branson of UK's Virgin Airlines was having a pop at his old rivals BA.
You can read the story here. (http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/transport/article6544321.ece)
So, a genuine attempt to stir up debate about a struggling business or an opportunistic jibe??
