Why Franchising is the Answer in a Downturn

It's something none of us can ignore. The media injects news of it into our eyes and ears every day of the week like a drug that's keeping us alive. For some of us, it does keep us alive. For others, it's been a knife in the back. The economy  - the UK's economy, specifically - makes starting up your own business as easy as lighting fire underwater since banks are unable or reluctant to lend money.

There is hope, however, thanks to franchise organisations like My Destination. Despite whatever's happened with the economy, My Destination has managed to weather it, growing as a business in every sense of the word: financially, physically (with the opening of a new office) and by developing its workforce. How has all this been achieved in the face of adversity? Integrating franchisees, thus allowing its brand name to shine, and giving the opportunity to those who need one. Because starting a business from scratch could be virtually impossible, especially today.

Becoming a franchisee is both beneficial and a time-saver. It bridges the gap between either saving up a chunk of cash with which to invest, or going to the bank for it. The franchisee also becomes automatically included in the operations of a well-organised, well-established business. My Destination, for example, takes its franchisees under its wing offering them support and advice on how to set up and maintain their website. A forum is available where like-minded franchisees can communicate, creating an open playing field where ideas can be bounced around.

Financial issues are severely reduced and job security radically increased when becoming a franchisee. And, at My Destination, who managed to raise over 1million pounds purely via franchisees, this rings true. It's also great news for its franchisees because, since they are the company's employees as well, they receive a good share of profit, and will want to remain doing so as long as they're a part of the organisation. The interests of My Destination are the same as its franchisees, and vice versa. All efforts go into the same pot; meaning trust and friendship are key features of the franchise network.

Now is the perfect time to utilise the opportunity of becoming a franchisee. The usual constraints of time pressures, responding to superiors and meeting deadlines would be erased. The franchisee sets its own deadlines, you're your own boss and get to decide what gets done and when. Financially, it's a lot easier. No start-up capital is needed; just a one-time fee and you're on board. Maintenance and brand loyalty are all that are needed, as well as a passion for the chosen business area. But to be able to develop in a continually growing company like My Destination and have that financial and work-related security, entrepreneurs should perhaps think twice if they ever passed the opportunity up.
