Don't Worry,
Make Money
I f,
like me, you fall asleep within 5 minutes of reading a book in bed, then you
are always on the look out for books with short chapters! ‘Don’t Worry, Make
Money’ by Richard Carlson fits the bill perfectly.
The book contains 100 short essays on strategies to attract more money
and less stress in your life. Each essay is 2 pages maximum. Ideal!
The basic theme is that without anger, depression, frustration or worry,
more opportunities will come your way. The ones who make it big don’t worry
about money and, more importantly, have fun!
Each of the short thoughts are written to help you get rid of your fears
and worry so that you can plan for success. What are the key ideas contained
in the book?
Don’t Believe This Old Adage
We have all heard the saying ‘If it’s too good to be true, then it
probably is’. But following this adage can fill you with doubt, suspicion
and will keep you from taking advantage of great opportunities which may
come your way.
It is easy to get sidetracked by listening to people who say, ‘It will
never work’, ‘That’s impossible’, or ‘It’s just too good to be true’.
Richard says that following these people’s advice will mean you having a
closed mind, just like they have. Be a non-worrier and keep an open mind on
everything that comes your way.
Eliminate Your Most Self Defeating Belief
We all have beliefs that get in the way. Do you believe you are not good
enough, or lucky enough? Each time you think like this you are reinforcing
the self limiting belief, so it will never go away and always be there,
holding you back from success.
Identify which is your most self defeating belief and make a clear
commitment to stop reinforcing it. Channel your thoughts and energy into
positive messages and beliefs.
Don’t Be Frightened To Ask For Referrals
Many business failures can be put down to the fear of asking for
referrals – asking for business or help. If you are trying to expand your
business then referrals are the key. Imagine if you had 100 clients and you
asked each of them to refer one new business to you. If 50 of these
referrals did some business, then you have increased your customer base by
50%, just by asking for a simple referral!
Most of your customers will be happy to help, so go ahead and ask.
Have a Plan
If you don’t have a plan, it’s difficult to get somewhere! Many
businesses don’t know where they will be one year from now, let alone 5
years. If your plan is to increase sales by 50%, then knowing this will act
as a daily prompt to take steps to achieve it. Without the plan you would
have done nothing.
A plan can release your inner creativity and strength and make a
tremendous improvement to your business. Sit down and write a plan today!
Be Lucky
Have you noticed how some people seem to have all the luck? Yet that luck
is usually self created, as a result of other actions we have taken in the
past. It’s all about being proactive and setting yourself up for all those
breaks which others call ‘lucky’. Lucky people already know this and always
act as if the next lucky break is just around the corner – it usually is.
In many ways, ‘Don’t Worry, Make Money’ is a book packed with ideas and
thoughts on how you can create your own luck. Put into practice the
strategies suggested by Richard and you will start to see big improvements
in your and business life.
