Using Promotional Materials to Market Your Business

Social Media and online marketing are contemporary effective strategies for promoting businesses. However traditional promotional materials, which are often neglected, can be helpful for a business's marketing strategy. Promotional banners, stickers and pens have been utilised by companies for years which have staying power that have been successful and affordable.

Promotional pens are loved by customers. Branding a company's name or logo onto a pen handed out saving a customer rummaging through their bag or asking around to borrow one is beneficial for the convenience of the individual in need of a pen and for brand or company awareness.

Every time a customer takes out a pen whether this is at home, shopping or being taken around the world on their travels, this is marketing for a company. It may be that a store clerk takes note of the pen being used as the customer writes out a cheque and may inquire into what the company's products or services are. Or when a customer goes for coffee with a friend and takes out their pen to make note of an upcoming event, their acquaintance may inquire into the business and be recommended by the loyal customer. Many companies have increased their profitability from referrals gained through promotional product marketing.

Stickers and banners have the same effect. Company logos or catch phrases that are encountered in various locations gain interest and curiosity leading to investigation from a potential customer. The more a company is promoted through traditional means the more revenue seen, so using stickers and banners may seem dated but has also proven successful.

Combining social media marketing and promotional products allows customer bases to increase. Through social networking sites companies can offer promotional products and hold competitions such as the first 500 'likes' for a company page receives a free pen or the first followers of a Twitter page or re-tweets of a company's website receives 1000 stickers.

Using both social media and promotional products shows the customer that the company is interested in connecting with their customers and not simply offering a product or a service. Promotional products sees a company giving back to their customers who provide them with loyal custom, whereas social networking sites allow for communication between a company and their customers, to receive feedback and involve them with any upcoming promotions or sales.

Promotional products such as pens and stickers are inexpensive. Pooled with online marketing strategies identifying a brand as technology savvy and involved in the modern global economy, both methods of promotion suggest a company who cares about its customers, wanting to give back and communicate directly with their customer base.
