Think Outside of the Box? But What Does it Really Mean?
There seems to be a lot of terms relating to innovation flying around companies and the like, more so in the home based business industry. One of the terms I tend to hear a lot is "Think Outside of The Box" But what exactly does it really mean? Particularly to those who are newcomers to this industry, this term may be a little confusing, indeed many big CE Os in companies use the term but don't really know the meaning themselves, they simply rely on the thinkers to come up with ideas. Although there isn't a set rule for the term, I researched this and came to a conclusion of the meaning. Those who Think Inside The Box: Think Outside of The Box Generally speaking, the majority of people tend to think along the same lines as everyone else, which in my opinion means that everything is simply black and white (no Grey areas). This kind of thinking is usually installed into us from a very early age, I am going to use the example of how we actually earn a living. At the time when we are all growing up, we see our care givers going out to work every morning, doing long hours and basically trading time for money. This kind of thinking I believe is thinking inside the box, these people are only sold in the concept that this is the only way to earn money. If you want to earn more, you either work longer hours, get another job, or get trained and do a job that has a higher responsibility level to it (for example a manager). Thinking inside of the box obviously has it's restrictions on life, which, can be related to any situation. These restrictions in life stop us from making progress, now I do understand that there are those who are more than happy to get up, go to work, clock in and do their graft for the day, come home etc etc. If everyone in the world never adapted this kind of thinking and were always looking for a better solution to enhance their lives, better themselves, then realistically we wouldn't have big corporations nor would we have manual jobs or anything for that matter simply because the world would be full of people who "Think Outside of The Box". But what consequence would that have on the world as a whole? Think about that for a while in your daily life, who would be at the store to put your groceries through, or fill your car at the gas station, or empty your bins, deliver your mail, the list goes on but you get the idea. These positions are incredibly important to our everyday lives, and there are people out there who love to do these sort of jobs and task... but who gives them the opportunity? People who... Think Outside of The Box: When we look back through history, there are the great names who we either admire or just accept that what they did for us has helped our lives to the degree that without their innovation things may have been a lot different. But who are these great people? Thomas Edison / Benjamin Franklin; These two great people in history understood that a power existed that could do so much for society, the power being electricity. Franklin, began his experiments and proved it's existence, Edison developed the theories and invented the way to generate electricity, capture it and distribute it to homes and business. These two examples are people who think outside of the box.innovation Just imagine for a moment, these guys trying to explain to people there is this amazing power, you can't really see it, it doesn't smell has no touch or feel but it will change our lives and if you touch it, it may well kill you. They never once gave up, they never thought this won't work, what they did was carry on going until they got it right. One fine example of how to think outside of the box. So let's take that into a modern day life example. The home based business industry is an industry that has made normal people from normal everyday lives into millionaires, yet, although there is real proof out there that this exists, there are people who still don't believe in it. I remember back when I began my journey into the Internet Marketing world, I was looking to leave my professional career behind to make a full time income on line, those select few that I did tell about it told me I need my head testing, or it's all a scam, however, like Edison, I knew the power that was out there, all I had to do was capture it and learn how to use it correctly. Never once did I think this won't work, or this is a waste of time, my mindset was completely set to success mode, no matter what it took. I think outside of the box, because if I can see that something has potential, then no matter what kind of work is involved or how much dedication it takes, I will make it work. The moment you think an idea or something else won't work, then you might as well give up at that moment, because chances are it never will and not because the concept will stop you , but your mindset. To think outside of the box, is to think like the minority not the majority, only those who's thinking is so precisely tuned in to success are the only ones who succeed.
