What would you do with just
a bit more freedom in your day? Take a walk in the park? Play a
game with your children? Linger over a special dinner date? You
can do all of these! I have seven things that you can put into
place today to break the chain that is keeping you at your
office desk.
By implementing these
simple concepts you can leave your office and close the door
behind you, knowing that everything is under complete control.
1. Plan your day
By taking 5 minutes at the
beginning of your day to jot down exactly what you want to
accomplish, you will find that you are able to complete those
tasks in much less time than it would have taken if you'd just
floated from task to task. Spending just a few hours in
dedicated activity will allow you to get twice as much done in
half the amount of time.
2. Forward office phone
to cell phone
A great way to leave the
office and never miss an important call is to forward your
office number to your cell phone. This will allow you to receive
calls anywhere, and consolidate your messages in one place.
3. Phone voice message
Speaking of messages,
here's a great tip: Free yourself from your cell phone by
allowing callers to leave messages. In your greeting, let them
know when you will be returning calls. And make sure you follow
up!
4. Email response
You can do the same thing
with your email. Most email providers have a "vacation" or
auto-response that you can set up. Let the person who sent you
the email know that you received their message and will get back
to them by a certain time. Again, be sure to follow up!
5. Faxing to email
Isn't technology amazing?
If you aren't taking advantage of this service already, do so.
Period. You can receive all your faxes as emails. You can then
access all your faxes anywhere that you can read your email. And
you have much clearer faxes when working with offers and
collecting signatures.
6. Sort mail over trash
At least 75% of the mail we
receive is only worth a brief glance...if that! Save yourself
some time and lots of later frustration by sorting your mail
directly over the trash can. Immediately discard those items
that are of no value to you or your clients. Save those items
that you can take action on right away. And be sure to pocket
your commission checks!
7. Hire an assistant
Many of the little daily
tasks that you need to do - and many of the larger ones too! -
can be done by a Real Estate Virtual Assistant. By hiring an
assistant, not only will you save even more hours of time, but
you will also be able to enjoy your time away from the office
knowing that your business is being handled competently!
The above seven concepts
will help you create more freedom while still allowing you
complete control over your business. If you find that your
business is running you, instead of the other way around, then
start today to implement these seven strategies. You will love
the freedom that results!
